(URBANDALE) – Governor Branstad 2010 today announced that former State Rep. Carmine Boal (R-Ankeny) has been hired to serve as the campaign’s Policy Director.
In her position, Boal will assist Gov. Branstad in the formulation of policy and issue solutions, as well as serving as the main point of contact in their development. Since November of last year, Boal served as the committee’s Organizational Chair, where she assisted in the recruitment of leadership in all of Iowa’s 99 counties.
“Carmine helped us quickly attain leadership in all 99 counties in a matter of weeks,” said Branstad 2010 Campaign manager Jeff Boeyink. “Now that we have a full-time organizational staff, we brought Carmine on to fully develop our policy as we achieve the ambitious goals put forward by Governor Branstad.”
Last week, Gov. Branstad announced four major goals in his announcement speech:
- 200,000 new jobs for Iowans
- Grow family incomes all across Iowa by 25 percent
- The cost of government must be reduced by at least 15 percent
- Again give our children the best education in the country
“I look forward to meeting with Iowans as they share their ideas for achieving these benchmarks,” said Boal. “Reaching these goals will take input from across the state, and bringing Iowa’s best and brightest together in order to put in place the policy directives to help move Iowa forward.”
Boal served in the State Legislature from 1999 to 2008. During that time, she served as an assistant majority leader and championed a number of conservative causes.
In her most recent campaign work, Boal served on the legislative advisory committee in support of the 2008 Iowa caucus effort for Gov. Mike Huckabee.
“Carmine helped put together my thriving organizational team, and I can’t wait to work with her to identify solutions to the challenges Iowa faces,” said Gov. Branstad. “She shares my positive vision for Iowa’s future and is an immediate asset to my growing campaign organization.”
Boal served in the Iowa House of Representatives for 10 years until 2008, when she retired. Prior to being elected to the Iowa House, she was elected to the Ankeny Community School Board in 1996. Most recently, she was employed by the Iowa Alliance for Choice in Education; Ruth Harbor Board of Directors, Des Moines; the Ankeny Christian Academy Foundation Board, and the Iowa Association of Christian Schools Board. She is a member of the Ankeny Federated Women’s Club, PEO, and Faith Christian Fellowship.
